By this two-word phrase ‘Google Search’, we mean searching the world’s information, including webpages, images, videos and more. In fact, Google Search has many special features to help you find exactly what you’re looking.


When you visit Google on internet, you would find just a blank page on the web. But you will notice that this search giant gives you an option to search! On a blank page, it shows its logo and a search box.


Like you, billions of people turn to Google every day to Search for answers to questions big and small. Of all the searches we see, it’s the complex tasks — like planning a family vacation — that may be the most challenging to solve.

Unlike a simple task where you know exactly what you want — like “what’s the weather tomorrow?” — complex tasks require a broadening and narrowing of searches to explore a topic or find an answer.

According to Google internal data, it takes people eight searches on average to complete complex tasks. Powered by artificial intelligence (AI), Google is always at work in advancing Search.


Google is a fully-automated search engine that uses software known as web crawlers that explore the web on a regular basis to find sites to add to Google index. The vast majority of sites listed in Google Search results aren’t manually submitted for inclusion, but are found and added automatically when Google’s web crawlers crawl the web.


Google Search is constantly reinventing itself ever since the Multitask Unified Model (MUM) was announced earlier this year. According to Google officials, the company’s consumer teams have been experimenting with its capabilities to help solve even the complex tasks.

MUM represents a significant leap forward in Google’s ability to understand information and deliver better Search results, says Darshan Kantak, VP Product Management, Search Ads and Google Ads Experiences Google. “As we look to the future, updates and innovations in Google Search will continue to create new ways for people to access information and connect with the businesses around them.”

His words are echoed by Google’s Senior Vice President Prabhakar Raghavan, who adds, “Google has spent more than two decades developing not just a better understanding of information on the web, but a better understanding of the world.”
